About The Author
Hart Stilwell (1902 - 1975) was a Texas original. Raised in the Rio Grande Valley in the early 1900s, he was one of the first to document and promote the abundant hunting and fishing opportunities in our state. After graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Texas, Stilwell first worked as a newspaper reporter and later enjoyed a successful career as a novelist, columnist, and icon of the Texas outdoors. His hunting and fishing
articles appeared in Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Esquire, and Sports Afield magazines, and his fictional work covered a broad scale of political,
racial, and educational subjects.
